Biography of Senator Mariam Sheikh Omar
Mariam Sheikh Omar is the current Senator of Mandera County following the 2022 general elections. The people of Mandera County elected her on a United Democratic Movement party ticket which is under the Kenya Kwanza Coalition. She is also the vice chair of the health standing committee among other committees.

She attended Frontier Institute where she pursued Diploma in Personel Management in 2009, she then joined Kampala University she pursued Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 2011, she also attended Mt Kenya University where she graduated with Masters in Business Accounting (MBA) in 2014

Sheikh career began when he worked as an accountant, she then worked with EMACK Aga Khan as a finance field officer. She then worked as a Management Accountant for the Nothern water service Board a position she served for a period of about 5 years from 2012 to 2017.
She moved to Frontier Institute of Professional and Management Studies where she was the CEO. Miriam is a member of Institute Certified Public Accountants of Kenya famously known as ICPAK.

Following the 2022 general elections Mariam vied for the Mandera Senatorial position in a United Democratic Movement party ticket which is under Kenya Kwanza Coalition and won. Additionally, she is also the vice chair of health standing committee and a member of County public accounts committee.
