Political career
Faki political career dates back in 1992 general elections. During 1992 election he vied for Changamwe Parliamentary Seat on a Ford Kenya ticket but lost to the late Kennedy Kiliku whose election was challenged in Court by Ramadhan Kajembe. Again, he lost the seat in 1995 when a by-election was held.
Faki never gave up. He tried his luck in 1997 elections but lost to Mr Kajembe. It is at this post that he shifted to Labour Party of Kenya where he lost Changamwe Parliamentary seat for the fourth time.
During the 2013 general election Faki shifted his political ambition from Changamwe Parliamentary seat to Jomvu parliamentary seat. Again he lost the elective post for the fifth time.
In 2022 general election Faki ran for an elective post for the sixth time. Mohamed Faki Mwinyihaji was elected as a senator on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket during the 2022 general elections. The ODM senator replaced Wiper Party secretary general Hassan Omar who unsuccessfully contested for the gubernatorial seat.
