He went to a local primary school in Kisii County due to cattle rustling in his home county. After he did his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) he joined Kabianga High School in Kericho County and completed his high school course. He later on enrolled at the University of Nairobi where he pursued Bachelor in Journalism and Communication.

Stephen Letoo’s passion for journalism began way back when he was young. He admired the way news were being presented in the Kenya Broadcast Channel (KBC). In high school, he conducted “Kabianga 100” which was weekly assembly news bulletin since he was motivated by the way Kanze Dena reported news on the screen. The ‘Kabianga 100’ was the platform that enabled him get his first job as a reporter at Kiss 100.
In the year 2013, during the general elections, Letoo was chosen by Kiss TV to report news on how the elections were being conducted.
He also worked as an intern at Royal Media Services before completing his studies at the University of Nairobi. This was through the help of his former classmate who was then a news director thus intervened for him to one of the bosses at the Royal Media House. Having given the chance, Letoo gave his best shot and perfected his skill. He worked hard and in turn the bosses at the Royal Media House were impressed hence gave him a chance to work as a sought-after journalist during his third year in campus.
Three years later, Letoo was officially employed as a political news reporter by the Royal Media Services at Citizen Television where he works till date.
However, his journey as a political news reporter has not been an easy walk in the park. Letoo has faced many challenges including being attacked by GSU plainclothes agents at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport. He also revealed in an interview that finding information is not easy at all.
