Life was unbearable and he dropped out of school to find for his young siblings and that’s how Eddy got into the streets of Nairobi where he got adoptive parents, the family of the former Chief Justice Evans Gicheru. That’s how he got his sir’s name Gicheru.

Eddy attended Friends Kamisinga where he attained his O-level from 2006 to 2008, he then joined the.African leadership Academy where he Diploma Leadership Entrepreneurship African Studies and Culminating Community Service Prom 2008 to 2010.

From 2011 to 2014 e was at Trinity College Hartford where he did political Science. He also pursued Masters in Global affairs from 2014 to 2016 at Yale University. He then joined University of Nairobi to pursue PhD Philosophy where he joined in 2021.

Eddy Oketch Gicheru’s career

Eddy worked at the Equity bank as the Loan officer from 2009 to 2010, he then worked at the Ongoza institute from 2010 to 2016 where he served as the president. He also worked for Anywair Group a finchet which provides micro asset loans and he served as the CEO from 2018 to 2022.

Eddy is the founder of Ongoza and SME Incubator. As a climate advocate he also founded the Treeco Fund which promotes agroforestry in rural. In 2008 he was among the 11000 youths who were in the front line to foster peace.

During the Migori senatorial seat elections Eddy vied but came second after Ochilo Ayako. During the following elections in 2022 Eddy made a comeback to politics and won the Migori Senatorial seat.
