The journalist was born on 1st May 1989 in the family of a Giriama Dentist (from Kilifi) as
the father and a Taita mother. The hardworking lady used to stay with them in Voi before they
later moved to Nyeri county after the Dad got a job there as a Dentist.

Mashirima`s Family

The father is a Dentist working in Nyeri county though he is a Giriama from the County of Kilifi.
The mother on the other hand is a Taita from Taita Taveta county in the town of Voi. Any other
information concerning the family such as the names is not revealed to the public although she
regularly posts their photos together.

Kapombe attended Consolata Primary School located in Nyeri for her primary studies. Upon completing her primary education, Mashirima joined Bishop Gatimu Ngandu situated in Karatina. It was at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu where she sat for KCSE examinations after which she was admitted at Daystar University for a degree in Communication, Electronic and Media in Athi River Campus.

The course was to take a period of 4year from 2008-2012. It was by then that she graduated as a degree holder. While at the university, she worked as a program presenter for the university radio (Shine radio).

Mashirima`s Career journey

Mashirima began her career by taking an internship at KBC before going to QFM still as an intern and
a contract as a news reader for a duration of 6 months. In her leisure time, she did stories for NTV before being hired to join NTV officially as a reporter and an anchor where she grew her profession.

She then made a step in 2013 joining KTN. While at KTN she got great pleasure when people got assistance from the report and stories she prepared. After a few years under KTN, Mashirima was approached by Royal Media in demand of her service and offered a new job.

That was in 2018 and since then she is working under the Royal Media where she anchors every
Friday, hosting Nipashe Weekend. Mashirima does not seem to be willing to move to any other
station any time soon. She also hosts Longa longa show alongside Bakari Nuhu and Munene
Nyaga
Veterans, Sema na Citizen on Wednesdays and a co-host to Trevor Ombija and Waihiga
Mwaura on Monday Report Townhall.

Mashirima Kapombe`s Husband and Son

The famous Captain Otoyo Sibour whose real name is Kazungu Matano, a presenter at Milele radio was the one dating Mashirima way back in 2014. They even got a son together before the two parted ways. Mashirima is raising her baby boy as a single mother.
