Simon Kachapin is a Kenyan politician and was the first governor of West Pokot County (2013-2017). However, he lost his seat during 2017 general election to Governor John Lonyangapuo.
During 2022 election, he recaptured his gubernatorial seat using UDA party ticket.

Kachapin was elected Governor of West Pokot County in 2013. In 2018 he was appointed as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the execution of Government business. He was tasked with providing policy direction, supervision of the ministry, and coordination. Kapachin also served as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the ministry of education.
He also worked as the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association chairman of west Pokot. He was a Deputy Principal and Senior principal for 4 and 12 years respectively. As a principal he headed Ortum Boys Secondary School.
In the 2022 general elections, Kachapin was declared governor of West Pokot after managing to attain 86,476 votes. He defeated the Governor John Lonyangapuo against all odds. Lonyangapuo managed to get 84,610 votes. Kachapin vied under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), party ticket against Lonyangapuo’s Kenya Union Party (KUP) party ticket.
In 2017 Kachapin was defeated by Lonyangapuo who vied under the KANU party ticket.
