His career began when he was at California State University where he played college baseball which went for three seasons for Sacramento State Hornet team.
During the 2014 Major League Baseball draft Philadelphia Phillies picked Hoskins while in the fifth round he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies for undisclosed period which earned him a signing bonus of $349700.

His professional season was with Williamsport Crosscutters in the New York Penn League where he recorded 237 batting average, nine home runs and 40 runs. In 2015 he joined the Lakewood BlueClaws which earned him a promotion to the Clearwater Threshers which was at the class level of A-Advanced Florida State League. He recorded .319 batting average, 17 home runs and 90 RBIs in the two teams.
In 2016 he moved to Reading Fightin Phils which is at the Class level of AA Eastern League and recorded 281 with 38 home runs and 116 RBIs and also earned him a tittle of Eastern League Rookie of the Year with an award of Paul Owens Award. Additionally, in the 2017 season he joined Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs of a Class level AAA International League and recorded 284 with 29 home runs and 91 RBIs.
In the same year he made a comeback to Philadelphia Phillies as he was called to a major leagues and on the same day he made a debut in MLB as a left fielder and in the second game in August he got the first MLB hit a single and two MLB home runs in, while still at Phillies record by hitting a home run in five consecutive games.
Again, in August in his 19th career game, Hoskins recorded his 25th RBI in few games. In September he recorded twelve home runs in 24 games. In September 12 and 13, Hoskins hit his 15th and 16th home runs, in 32 games and 17th home run, in 33 games consecutively. He recorded his 131st at-bat in September 18, which made 2017 his rookie year.
