Reus began as a player in the youth rank from a young age. He then joined Borussia Dortmund in 1996 at the age of 7 years in the academy up to 2006. Reus then went for U-19 team of Rot Weirs Ahlen. After a short period in the team, he got upgraded to the first team. It was then that his profession begun in football. Marco joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2009 coming from Weirs Ahlen where he had joined in 2008.
