Biography
Issa Abdallah Issa Timamy (born 12 September 1958) is the current governor of Lamu County. He won the seat in the previous elections held on August 9th, 2022. Timamy is the first governor of Lamu County a seat he lost in the 2017 general elections. However, he regained it in the 2022 elections.
Prior to his election, he was serving as the chairman of the National Museum of Kenya.

Early Life and age of Issa Timamy
Timamy was born on September 12 1958 in Mkomani Lamu County where he also grew up.

He attended Sacred Heart primary school where he sat for his K.C.P.E examination. He then succeeded to Allidina Visram High school for his secondary education. Later he joined Nairobi University where he was trained as a lawyer.

Issa Timamy Wife and Children
Timamy is married to Dr. Hajara El-Busaidy daughter of Prof Abdulgafur El-Busaidy, they are blessed with five children though information about their children is unknown to the public.
Issa Timamy Career Journey
He worked as company secretary and director at Sameer Group of companies in Nairobi. In 2005 he was appointed the chairman of the board of directors of the National Museum of Kenya. Additionally, he also runs his law firm Timamy and company advocates located in Mombasa and is specialized in commercial law.
In 2013 he vied for the Lamu county gubernatorial sit, winning the sit alongside his deputy Eric Kinyua Mugo, He was elected under UDF party ticket. Timamy branded Lamu as an island of festivals which have to date earned Lamu an increase in visitors visiting Lamu through airport arrival.
He also unveiled a Hindi orphanage center costing KS.17 million which was said to admit 200 orphans and other children from destitute families within the county.
Research conducted by the Department of Humanity, the University of Nairobi on the accountability and transparency in the development unit ranked him among the top five governors in the country who are likely to be re-elected due to their development record which was proved right when he regained his seat in the previous August 9th 2022 general elections.

Issa Timamy Corruption Allegations
The Lamu Governor was accused and arrested in connection with the Lamu Massacre that left 65 people dead. He alleged that he was a victim of corruption cartels and state agencies that want him out of the county to pave way for his dissolution and plunder of taxpayers’ money.
Later Timamy told United Democratic Front (UDF) Leader Musalia Mudavadi that he was tricked by the police officers to return to Lamu from Nairobi which he termed as an abduction.
