Biography
Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir is the current governor of Wajir county following the 2022 general elections a position he is retaining for the second term since he was also elected in the 2017 general elections. He also worked as the chairman of the Board of directors of Kenya Industrial estate limited (K.I.E).

Jiir attended Jogbaro primary school where he sat for his K.C.P.E and later proceeded to Starehe boys centre where he did his K.C.S.E examination. He later joined University of Nairobi where he studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (accounting) degree. Additionally, he has an MBA from Strathmore and a global business strategy qualification from IESA business school.

The career journey of Jiir
He is the immediate former chairman of the board of directors of Kenya industrial estate Limited (K.I.E). Ahmed also worked as a finance director of Hass Petroleum. Additionally, he worked as an auditor with Deloitte and Touche in Nairobi and in New York from 1997 to 2007.
Before that he also worked on secondment with Barclays Bank Business- Turn around advisor. He later joined politics and was elected as governor of Wajir county in the 2017 general elections and also retained the seat in the 2022 general elections serving a second term in office.
