Biography

William Chirchir Chepkut was the Ainabkoi Constituency Member of Parliament between 2017 to 2022. He lost his seat in the 2022 general elections to Samuel Chepkonga. The politician died on Saturday, 8th October 2022 while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi-based hospital.

William Chirchir Chepkut Wife and children

William Chepkut is believed to have married Milcah Jepng’etich Samoei in April 1998 and had children with her for the period they were together. Their sons are; Nicolas Chepkut, Zahir Chirchir and Habil Chirchir.

As with any other marriage, theirs also contained troubles. Upon his death, the late Chepkut’s widow went to court claiming that her in-laws were barring her from the burial preparations. She states that the family members are intimidating, fighting, and refusing to send off her late husband in peace. Jepng’etich wanted the court to declare her as Chepkut’s legal wife.

William Chirchir Chepkut Education

The honorable legislator attended the Technical University of Kenya formerly known as Kenya Polytechnic attaining a diploma in Purchase and Supply Management from 1991 to 1992.

He further studied at Jabalpur University in India and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.

William also attended the Kenya School of Government in 1997 and got an advanced certification in Supply Management.

From 2003-2005, he pursued a Master of Arts in Common Development at Organization from Kenyatta University.

He has a certification in Integrity from Egerton University. William Chirchir was a member of the Special Funds Account Committee and the Committee on Appointments in the parliament.

William Chirchir Chepkut Career

The late and jovial legislator served as a private secretary to the late minister Nicolas Biwott from 1993 to 2003.

Hon. Chepkut was a Member of Parliament for Ainabkoi Constituency, Uasin Gishu County from 2013 to 2022. He lost his seat to Samuel Chepkonga in the 2022 general elections.

William served as the vice president of the Special Funds Account Committee from 2017 till his death and also was a member of the Committee on Appointments.

William Chirchir Chepkut Health and death

The late politician became ill and was rushed to Mediheal hospital in Parklands where he succumbed on the 8th of October 2022. However, Chepkut was initially admitted to Nairobi Hospital after an accident where he missed a step on a staircase rolling to the floor.

He was laid to rest at his family home in Kapsundei, Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday 17th October 2022.

Political leaders from around the country joined the family to eulogize the former legislator. Additionally, they remembered him for being selfless and humorous while calling on the president to mentor Chepkut’s sons to join politics.

The sons were not left behind to indicate their desire to succeed their father. Notably was 9-year-old Habil, who electrified the crowd. He told the current Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkonga that his father would have become the MP if he was in good health and would one day walk in his deceased father’s shoes. The young man wished to be mentored by president William Ruto on being a politician.

The late MP is estimated to be $ 2-3 million worth. William owns luxurious cars and houses in Kenya. He amassed this wealth from his career.
