Sabina Wanjiru Chege is the former Muranga County women’s representative (2013-2022). She is also a
former actress and a radio presenter.

Sabina Chege’s age and early life
Sabina Chege was born in 1972 in Muranga and her parents are Chege Mutema and Susan Wairimu but there is no information on her siblings. However, she is the last born in a family of nine.
Education Background
She attended two primary school at Matu and Kinyona primary school then proceeded to Mugiri Girls high school.
Sabina joined the University of Nairobi where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education(1998-2002) and a master’s of arts degree in communication (2003-2005). Additionally, Sabina then later enrolled in the Kenya institute of management(2003) for a post-graduate diploma in public relations.

Career Journey
She was an actress in the show named Tausi and a radio presenter where she worked with Coro, Kameme FM and Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC). In Tausi she acted the role of Rehema. At KBC, she was appointed the head of financial radio services at KBC.
She worked as a development manager for World Space Africa where she gained skills that she later used in directing her foundation named Sabina Wanjiru foundation which addresses women’s issues in society and matters.
In the 2013 general election, she was elected the women representative of Muranga county. She served in this position from 2013 to 2022. Surprisingly, she never defended her women’s representative seat or vied for any elective position in the 2022 general election.

Parliamentary committee membership
During her service at the parliament, she served as a committee member in Departmental Committee on Education, Research & Technology and Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee. Additionally, she chaired Departmental Committee on Health (2017-2022).
She sponsored the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service bill (2019) and the Breastfeeding mothers’ bill.

Sabina Chege is married to Maina Githitu. Maina is the former Kenya Dairy Board chair. The couple wedded in church as well as in traditional marriage.
Sabina is a mother of three children. However, details about their age, names, and gender are not available.

Sabina Chege and the late John Demathew
Sabina featured in a popular Kikuyu music ‘Njata Yakwa.” The all-time hit was sung by the late John Demathew. Njata Yakwa means my star. As such the song elicited mixed reactions on whether Sabina was dating John Demathew. Sabina has openly denied these speculations.
