Biography
Rebbeca Miano is a Kenyan lawyer, corporate executive and currently a nominated cabinet secretary for East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development in President William Ruto’s administration. She is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Ken Gen Company PLC (KENGEN) since 2017.
Ms. Miano is also a Member of The Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and a Council Member at St. Paul’s University. She previously occupied the position of Member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya).

The career journey of Rebbeca Miano
She first worked at a Nairobi-based Law firm“ Musyoka Annan and company Advocates” later she worked at “slater and Gordon”, a Law firm in Queensland in Australia.
In 1998 she joined Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) as a senior legal officer. Over time she rose in the rank to become an assistant secretary. At the time of her promotion to Acting Managing Director, in August 2017 she was the Director of Legal affairs and company secretary at KenGen, serving both roles since 2008.
In November 2017 she was appointed the Managing director and Chief Executive officer of KenGen a position she holds to date replacing Albert Mugo who retired after attaining a retirement age of 60years. She is the first woman in Kenya to hold such a position in Kenya’s mega energy generating company.
She is currently the cabinet secretary for East Africa Community and Arid and Semi-Arid lands. Her appointment took place in September 27, 2022 by H E Dr. William Samoei Ruto at the state house.
