Firing the 2018 elections she made a pledge to decriminalize some offenses which include drug possession and shoplifting. Rollins vied for the position of the District attorney and won the November general elections and defeated Michael P. Mallney an independent candidate with 80% and started working in January 2nd 2019.
In 2021 US Attorney President Joe Biden appointed her to represent Massachustts District which some senators were against claiming that she was in support of some policies that had led to violent crime the senators include Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton. In September 2021 the committee decided to vote and this was to advance Rollins nomination but the results were 11-11. In December the tie was broken by the deputy president Kamala Haris and her nomination was confirmed but Marshals services denied her request for the full time security following the mails of threat she received,
