Private Universities and constituent colleges play a role in supplementing the demand of higher education in Kenya. As opposed to public universities they are privately owned and managed. However, university education in Kenya is regulated by commission for university education. Admission to these category of university is either through the Kenya University and College Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) or interested qualified students apply directly to the university.
