Penina Malonza is an appointee cabinet secretary for Tourism in the government of President William Ruto. Her appointment took place on September 27, 2022.
She is the former Senior Executive of the non-governmental organization Compassion International. In 2013 she was appointed deputy governor to governor Julius Malombe from 2013 to 2017.

Malonza served as a senior executive with the non-governmental group Compassion International which helped disadvantaged students from Kitui county’s schools.
From 2013 to 2017 she deputized Kitui to Governor Julius Malombe.
In 2017 after falling out with Governor Malombe she was selected by former Kitui Senator David Musila as his running mate to succeed Governor Malombe. However, both Malombe and Musila lost the 2017 election to Charity Karoki Ngilu.
In 2021 she announced her interest to run for women’s representative against Irene Kasalu current Kitui County Women’s Representative.
On September 27 2022 she was appointed the cabinet secretary for Tourism by H E Dr. William Ruto to replace former CS for Tourism Najib Balala. In a surprising twist, she is one of the two cabinet secretaries from the Ukambani region. Additionally, she is the first-ever CS from Kitui South Constituency.
