Biography of Nicholas Mwendwa

Nicholas Mwendwa is a Kenyan entrepreneur and an IT expert who is the current Kenya Football Federation who succeeded Sam Nyamwaya. He is Popularly known as Nick Mwendwa.

Mwendwa was born on 29th December 1979 in Makueni County, he is 44 years old. He celebrates his birthday on 29th day of December every year.

Mwendwa attended Makindu ‘A’ primary School. He then joined Kiserian Junior Seminary and later joined Thimeandu Secondary school. After his secondary education he joined Kenya College of Accountancy to pursue Diploma in IT. He then joined Bottega University to pursue Bachelor of Science Business in Management/ Leadership.

After his graduation Mwendwa was hired by Uchumi Chain of Supermarkets as an IT expert hired to come up with ideas on how to robust solution in retail payments. Mwendwa then came up with innovative means of payment and also channel firm Riverbank solutions.

In 2019 Mwendwa formed Swigo Limited which is an online shopping platform. In 2021 he created Sweeton Limited which is a content hub. Recently in 2022 Mwendwa founded a payment cloud named DeFi platform Swerri, Zed mobile payment Limited which is a service that help businesses to set up mobile payment and accept them.

In the sport world he formed a football team named Kariobangi Sharks which is in Kariobangi. During the all-inclusive Kenyan football election in 2011 he vied for the Nairobi National Executive Committee position but didn’t succeed. But he was given another position of the FIFA Transfer Matching System manager at the Federation up to 2014. In 2015 he was then given the position of FKF Premier League Chairman.  He later came out to announce that in the following election he would be running for the Presidency of the FKF.

On 10th February 2016, Mwendwa won the presidency of the FKF and took over from the former president of FKF Sam Nyamweya. During the 2020 October Mwenda win the seat for the second time and continued serving FKF and the President.

After clearing his name over the legal charges Mwendwa was ready to go back to FKF as the president in 2022 and opened the FKF offices on September 20th 2022 and resumed his duties on March 29th 2023.

Mwendwa was arrested in November 2021 over allegations of misappropriation of FKF funds and this came after disbanding of the Federation by the Kenyan Government which was after an audit report was presented. The FKF residents’ office was the take-over by his deputy Doris Petra.

He was later taken to court but the case against him was termed as abuse to the court process, defective and unconstitutional. He was later cleared and was free to go back to the office.
