Mwanaisha Chidzuga is one among the longest serving, well-spoken and most talented news anchors in Kenya with a great experience in the media industry. She has been serving as a Swahili journalist.

She is also a business entrepreneur since she owns a number of restaurants within Nairobi

Mwanaisha Chidzuga is currently 40 years old. She was born in the year 1983 September 8th in Kwale County which is in the Coastal region of Kenya. She also grew up in the same region together with her family.

She is from the Mijikenda ethnic group.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga’s mother is Zainab Chidzuga. However, information about her father is not in the public domain. She comes from a family of eight children (five girls and three boys her inclusive). Information has it that she comes from a humble background but at least they never lacked the basics of life.

Unfortunately, Mwanaisha Chidzuga’s mother succumbed to death while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital. Apparently, Zainab Chidzuga, Mwanaisha’s mother served as a Women Representative for Kwale, an official of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization as well as a board member of National Oil Corporation Parastatal.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga went to Ziwani Primary school which is in the coastal region of Kenya for her primary level education. She later on joined Kenya High school hence being the first person from her area who joined a national school.

Afterwards, she enrolled at Moi University, Nairobi campus for a Bachelor degree in Communication and Public relations.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga’s journey in the media began way back when she completed her high school level education. She mysteriously got her first job in Pwani FM where she took her friend for an interview and in turn told to also try her luck and she ended up being employed. She served as a news reporter as well as a DJ.

Later on, she moved to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) where she reported news in Swahili at Idhaa ya Kiswahili. However, she was not perfect but still she got a chance to be trained by the veteran journalists in the industry. These journalists were: Leonard Mambo Mbotela, Zainab Aziz, Khadija Ali and Elizabeth Obege.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga also got a chance to work at the Standard Media Group in KTN. She hosted a show known as Maisha na Isha which aired in the afternoon. She then left the Standard Group Media in August 2015 having blossomed as an anchor in the media industry.

Afterwards, she was employed at the Mediamax where she worked at K24 station. There, Mwanaisha was able to continue with her career as a Swahili news reporter after her departure in the Standard Media Group. At around the end of 2019, Mwanaisha was among 100 employees from Mediamax at K24 who got retrenched due to redundancy. According to her, in a statement, she said that working for Mediamax was a hobby of which she did it as her part-time job.

Apart from being a news anchor, Mwanaisha is a full-time caterer, she owns several restaurants in Nairobi, Kenya.

She has also served as a board member in the Coconut Board Authority under the ministry of Agriculture making her the youngest Kenyan who has ever served as a board member between the years 2005 and 2012.
