Kenya’s university education comprises public and private universities. Public universities are owned by the state while private universities are owned by private citizens. The number of public universities has increased from one university (July 1, 1970) to 34 public universities. The oldest and main universities were seven in total. The seven public universities nurtured their constituent colleges to become fully-fledged universities. The University of Nairobi (UoN)
It is the oldest public university in Kenya. Over the years The University of Nairobi has nurtured the best professionals in Kenya and beyond. Its programs have the best employability index in Kenya. Among some of its prestigious and famous programs are; law, medicine, veterinary medicine, and biological sciences among others. Its main campus is located in Nairobi along the University way

Moi University (MU)
Moi university ranks as the second oldest public university in Kenya and has its main campus at Kesses, Eldoret. It produces the best medical professionals in Kenya.
Moi University campuses include Nairobi, Coast, Annex, College of health sciences, Alupe University college, and Bomet University College.

Kenyatta University (KU)
Kenyatta University is located 16 km away from Nairobi city. It can be accessed via the Thika superhighway. It is traditionally popular in education courses. However, its academic scope is not limited to education. It offers different courses in various fields. Among the traditional universities, KU prides itself as a person with disabilities (pwd) friendly, modern infrastructure, campanile, sporting fields among others.

Just like Kenyatta University, its main campus is located along Thika Super Highway. It renowned in the field of engineering, agriculture and biotechnology and IT.
