Lilian Nganga is an entrepreneur and former first lady of Machakos County. Lilian was raised in a Christian family and came from a poor background. She is popularly known as Khiyla was born on the 22nd of June 1985 in Kiambu County.

Lilian was married to Alfred Mutua, the Cabinet Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. Alfred is the former Machakos County Governor.

Lilian Nganga education background

Lilian was fortunate enough to win a scholarship and was privileged to be enrolled at Thogoto Girls High School in Kiambu. She later joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a bachelor’s degree in tourism and
hospitality.
The former first lady is also a holder of a Master’s degree in Science and Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology.

Lilian Nganga career path

After graduating from the University of Nairobi with her bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality, Lilian got a job at Safari Park Hotel and worked there for a year.

Lilian later joined Kenya Airways where she worked for 6 years. Her ambitions pushed her to start her own tour company which she named Amelly Travel and Tours where she is the CEO. The company was launched in January 2016. She also worked as the Operations Director at the A&L Hotel.

At the onset of her career, she worked as a model and even proceeded to open up her own beauty parlor but didn’t last for long as she would later quit.

Lilian founded the Lilian Nganga foundation in 2017 while she was the first lady of Machakos County. The organization aims to help the girls of Machakos County with toiletries and other necessities.

Lilian Nganga’s husband, children and family

Lilian was married to former Governor Alfred Mutua (now CS Foreign affairs) for more than a decade. The two however called it quits and broke up. It is alleged that the couple has a daughter. She has since remarried Juliani.

Details on her family’s whereabouts are not known but different sources revealed that she has two younger sisters.

The former first lady’s main source of income comes from her tours and travels ventures. She is estimated to be worth ksh.100 million. She is also a shareholder in the Alfred and Lilian Hotel (A&L Hotel), in Machakos County.

Controversy

Lilian Nganga sparked controversy on the 15th of August after her break up with former Machakos county Governor Alfred Mutua. She stated that they would remain friends despite the end of their marriage.

Lilian left Alfred Mutua for Juliani, a famous Kenyan artist. It was alleged that the two were dating though it was not officially announced they have been spotted together several times. She would later clear the air admitting that she was in a relationship with Juliani, claiming that he makes her a better person.
