Len Goodman is the late professional dancer, a judge and a coach from the United Kingdom. He has been the head judge for some dancing shows including the Strictly Come Daving from 2005 till he retired.

Goodman married Cherry Kingston who was his dancing partner in 1972. However, they divorced in 1987. He then got married to Sue Barrett who was a dancing teacher in 2012. He had a son named James William Goodman who followed his father’s footsteps. James is a ballroom dancer, and he is a teacher at his father’s dance hub named Goodman Dance Academy.

Len Goodman Career

Goodman started his dancing career when he was just 19 when his therapist recommended it as therapy for a foot to heal. He got it interesting and that it’s his talent and he decided to turn professional and won many competitions. When he won the British Championships at Blackpool he decided to retire from dancing in his late twenties.

He appeared in a show which was nominated for the Emmy award in a Reality show competition program category. In 2004, Goodman was the head judge during the BBC one dance competition for over 10 years which was Strictly Come Dancing from its inception where he worked until 2016. Goodman received the award for the outstanding contribution to dance by Carl Alan Award in both 2006 and 2007.

On May 9^th, 2017, he appeared in the Christmas Day Special which was announced that Shirley Ballas would succeed him as the head judge. Goodman have also been the head judge on a TV Dance program named Dancing With The Stars a position he has held since 2005 to 2022. During the 31^st season semifinals Goodman made an announcement that he would be retiring soon. He said he wanted to go spend time with his family.
