Biography

Paul Kimani Njoroge, popularly known as Kimani Wamatangi was born on the 6th of August 1965 in Wangigi, Kabete constituency. He is currently the Governor of Kiambu County elected by a majority of votes in the recently concluded general elections.

Wamatangi’s Education Journey

The renowned politician started his education journey at Kibiku primary school in 1972 and obtained his C.P.E in 1978.

He would later join Nyandarua High school for his Secondary education in 1978. The Governor also schooled at Tred. P. College (1983), Bombay University (1980), and St. Paul’s University (2012), where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in leadership and management.

Wamatangi Career history

The Governor’s career is an attestation of the proverb from grass to grace. He shared that he used to walk to school barefoot and he didn’t even own a pair of trousers and only acquired them from his school uniform when he joined high school.

He also worked as a driver for a transport company.

His political career picked up in 2013 when he was elected Senator of Kiambu County. He was re-elected during the 2017 general elections under the Jubilee Alliance Party proving his dominancy in the political space and the trust that the electorates of Kiambu had in him.

In the 2022 general election, Wamatangi moved a step higher when he was elected Governor of Kiambu county against all odds in a hotly contested seat that had seven aspirants who were all political heavyweights.

Apart from politics, he has also worked in the private sector majorly as a director in Auto Bass Limited, Total Assurance, Kings Construction, Apex Security, and Lub Plus Trading.

The former senator was also the C.E.O at King Group Limited.

Kimani Wamatangi’s wife, family and children

The Governor is married to a beautiful wife, Dorothy Jepkurui who is a fashion designer. The couple is not shy to the public and would often be spotted together in some public gatherings.

Although the presence of his children is kept on a low he once said that if he didn’t have his business his children would have lacked food as the salary he got as a senator amounted to Ksh.640 after paying off loans.

Kimani is said to have sexually assaulted his house help Ms. Winfred Wangui in 2006 and sired a girl. This is according to cnyakundi.

In 2019 a court order was issued to Wamatangi by a Nairobi children’s court to cater for the girl’s expenses amid reports of negligence by the girl’s mother.

Although there is no official report, Wamatangi is estimated to have a net worth of around KSh.5,000,000 – 20,000,000. With his newly acquired title as Governor, he would be bagging a whooping estimate of Ksh.924,000 per month inclusive of allowances.

Wamatangi Foundation

The former Senator founded the Wamatangi Foundation in 2006 from where he got his name. The foundation aims to help end poverty in Kiambu by educating and empowering its people.

The foundation offers training in various aspects to the youth intending to help them acquire skills that will lead them to job opportunities or even starting their own business.
