Biography of Kim Mulkey

Kim Mulkey is an American former basketball player and now a professional coach who is currently leading the LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball team. She is the winner of two national championships when she was still a player.

Mulkey got married to Randy Robertson in 1987 but they divorced in 2006. They had two children together namely Kramer their son and Makenzie their daughter who is an assistant coach.

Mulkey attended Nesom Junior High School for her secondary education and then later joined Louisiana Tech University where she pursued bachelor’s degree in administration and then later did her master’s in administration still in Louisiana Tech University.

Mulkey started playing basketball while still I’m high school, but things got better when she joined the University where she also played basketball where from ,1980 to 1984 she played for the Lady Techsters. She led her team into winning the two Championships. While at the University she was named many times as the Most Outstanding for Final Four.

When she was done with her college career, she had the professional basketball career in Italy where she played for one year. She then returned to the United States where she was part of the team that represented the US National team during the Summer Olympics and won gold medal in Los Angeles. Her success as a player opened another for for her in the coaching career.

Basketball coaching

She began her coaching career in 2000 when she joined the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, it’s been a success and she is ranked among the Basketball coaches in the history of College Basketball. She first be name the coach of Baylor program at season seven and she coached them though to season 20.

Having not received any tournament she decided to lead the Lady Bear through the NCAA tournament and since the coaching of Mulkey they have won the twenty games and above every year. In 2005 Mulkey awoke the spirit in the Baylor Program. The Bears on the other hand that year managed to win the championship match held in Indianpolis against the Michigan States. She was named the first woman to win the title of NCAA I basketball that she also won as a player before her coaching career.

In 2007 she signed another 10 years with the Baylor. She recorded another history in 2012 when she led the Lady Bears to the best win in college basketball history with a win of 40-0. This was during the NCAA Championship match against the Notra Dame held in Denver. In 2019 the Baylor Lady Bears won another NCAA Championship held in Tampa a match against the Nitra Dame Fighting Irish with a record if 82-81. This earned Mulkey the third coach in the history to have won the three and above NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.

In 2021 Mulkey joined the LSU as their coach in April 25th. After the COVID 19 pandemic Mulkey led the LASU to the 2023 NCAA Championship and had her first win with the team
