Despite this, her passion for hockey continued to grow, leading her to ask her parents if she could try out for AA travel hockey. Although she did not make the team and returned to house league, Kendall was determined to make a travel hockey team the following season. Her perseverance paid off when she not only made a travel hockey team but a AAA boys team, where she played against older players. Getting cut the previous year motivated Kendall to become a stronger player.

Kendall’s youth hockey career was impressive, but she had to stop playing games with boys at bantam minors because they had grown significantly bigger than her. However, she continued to practice with the boys’ teams and played girls’ hockey until she went to college.
