Johnson Sakaja, also known as Johnson Arthur Kosgei Sakaja, is the current governor of Nairobi, with an intriguing political career history.

Johnson was born on 2nd February 1985, in Nairobi. He is 38 years old.

Johnson is a luhya- Sabot and the last born out of three children, his father is known as Mzee John G. Sakaja and his mother is the late Emily Ayoti Kubasu. His father is the former marketing director at firestone company, while his mama was a government worker at Lang’ata prison, she was also the 1st runner to win a gold order in 1971 in the East African 200m race. Allegedly his mother and father met during one of her sports games.
Unfortunately, Johnson lost his mother in 1994 when he was 9 times old. Together with his family
they were staying at the government houses. However, they were forced to vacate in 1997. Johnson has two sisters who aren’t in the spotlight, hence very little is known about them.

The Governor is married to Beatrice Sakaja, who’s also off the spotlight hence little is known about her. He has three children, John Basil Sakaja, Tangai Sakaja and videlicet.
Johnson Sakaja education background
Sakaja started schooling at Aga Khan Nursery and primary academy until 1998. In 1999 he
attended Lenana secondary school. He also attended higher education at UON for a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science. At UON he was the president of Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) and he innovated the fiscal consultancy establishment known as Arthur Johnson advisers which runs up to date. He also allegedly attended Brigades University in Uganda.

Johnson Sakaja political career
Sakaja is presently the Governor of Nairobi County after winning August 2022 elections. Before ascending to governorship, he was a Nairobi County senator from 8th August 2017 to 2022. He was also a nominated member by TNA from 2013 to 2017.
In 2007 as a result of his influence as president of SONU he joined Kibaki in 2007 as his mobilizer. He also joined the vijana Na Kibaki lobby group. It was during this time that he met the former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
At 26 years of age Johnson helped in forming TNA (The National Alliance party). At 27 he was the chairperson of TNA until 9th of September 2016, when the party merged with 12 other parties to form the Jubilee party.
He has also served as the chairman of the Committee of Labor and Social Welfare.
