After graduating he met Robert Kennedy New York Senator during a social event and signed him to do his presidential campaigns. Unfortunately, Kennedy was assassinated shortly after the beginning of campaign. He then started working at Frost and Jacobs law firm which was in Cincinnati in Ohio. He was in the front line in reducing the voting age from 21 to 18.
He contested for the position of the Ohio Congressman in 1970 but simply lost to Donald Clancy a republican politician. In 1971 he was elected to join the Cincinatic city council. Three years later he was forced to resign due to some allegations he was facing. He was then elected the Cincinnatic Mayor a position he served for two terms. I
In 1982 he was out for the position of Ohio Governor but did not win, after losing the elections he signed to work with WLWT, Cincinnati NBC affiliate and also a political reporter. Now in the journalism field it was a success at the channel he was the managing editor and first news anchor, he was at top of the list of Cincinnati news anchor in 2 years and his nightly commentaries earned him 10 local Emmy Awards.
Springer owned a show named The Jerry Springer Show which was aired in 1991, it addressed daily issues like gin politics and homelessness. To make it more popular it got a new look by addressing tabloid sensationalized topics and the show is still aired to date.

Springer died in April 27th 2023, he died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 79.
