Who is Opiyo Wandayi
Opiyo Wandayi is a Kenyan Politician and the current member of Parliament for Ugunja Constituency serving the position for a third term. He is also a member of ODM party.

Wandayi was born in 1972 in Yiro West Sidindi Ward, Ugunja Constituecy in Siaya County. He is 51 years old. There is no information on the identity of his parents or siblings.
Opiyo Wandayi Education background
Opiyo Wandayi attended Sikalame Primary School and sat for his KCPE in 1986. He then joined Sawagongo High School and sat for his KCSE in 1990.
Wandayi then joined the University of Nairobi to pursue Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. In 2008 he enrolled at the Kenya Institute of Management to study Diploma in Business Management. He went to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology to pursue MBA Executive. He is currently in Daystar doing LLB.
Opiyo Wandayi career
Opiyo began his career in leadership way back while still in the University in 1990s when he was a school leader. Entering the political world in 1998 he was the assistant speaker in the parliament where he deputized the then Speaker Joan Omino. Wandayi then gave a break to politics and worked as a field officer to British American Tobacco BAT) in Kenya.
He resigned from the British American Tobacco in 2013 and immediately joined the 2013 politics in the general elections and vied for the position of Ugunja Member of Parliament and he won the election. Rising through ranks Wandayi lived in Kampala for a two-year international assignment as an expert for Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda when he went as the Leaf Business Sustainability Manager.
Wandayi during his first term as the Mp for Ugunja he was ranked as the best performing Mp in Nyanza region and the 11th in the entire country. In the parliament Wandai is the powerful Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman. He is also the Secretary General for political Affairs for the ODM party. He is a member of the National Election Board NEB and also a mem er of National Executive Committee NEC.
During the 2017 general elections Wandai was again elected as the Member of Parliament for Ugunja Constituency with high votes of majority. His good work for Ugunja people gives him credit including the development projects under the 2014-2018 Ugunja Constituency Strategic Development Plan and the 2018-2023 Ugunja Constituency Strategic Development Plan after his reelection during the 2022 general election where he is now serving his third term as the Mp of Ugunja Constituency. Wandai is an ally and close confident to the Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga.
