Biography of Irungu Kangata
Irungu Kangata is the Governor of Muranga County and also a prominent politician in Kenya. Previously, he served as a senator of Muranga County and a majority Chief Whip. Irungu was the MP for Kiharu Constituency.

Hon. Irungu comes from the family of the late Joseph Irungu who passed from cancer in February 2020 and the late Margaret Wangechi Irungu who died from diabetes and hypertension in 2019. He is currently 44 years years.

Irungu Kangata education Background
Irungu went to Muranga Township Primary School whose name was changed to Vidhu Ramji Primary School in 1986 to 1993. He later joined Thika High School from 1994 to 1997. Irungu was then admitted to Parklands Campus a branch of University of Nairobi.
He served as the vice- chair of Kenya Law Student Society and also a vice-chairman of SONU in the same year. Irungu also suffered suspension from the University over championing discrimination of regular JAB students. He completed his law degree in 2004 and joined Kenya School of Law for his Diploma in law.
Career journey of Irungu Kangata
Irungu was first known when he represented Rebecca Kerubo against Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza for pinching Kerubo’s nose in public after her insisting to be searched. Kerubo actually won the case. He also stood for Martha JM Miano charged with misuse of telecommunication gadget.
Irungu Kangata vied for Kiharu Constituency on a TNA ticket and won the seat in 2013. He got an award in 2015 for having been the best management of CDF investing highly in domestic water projects. He was elected in 2017 as Muranga Senator on a Jubilee Party ticket. He was acknowledged by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Currently Hon. Irungu Kangata is serving as the Governor of Murang`a County.
