Francis Wanderi is among the four IEBC commissioners who openly differed with the 2022 presidential results. Wanderi and three others were gazetted as IEBC commissioners on September 1, 2021. This was after they were interviewed and vetted by the parliament.
However, during the August 9, 2022, general election Wanderi and the other three commissioners ( Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit and Justus Nyang’aya) held a separate media briefing at Serena while the commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati held a presidential result announcement at Bomas of Kenya.

Age and early life of Francis Wanderi
The early life and age of the commissioner are not public. However, he was born in Kieni and also happens to be a cousin to Kanini Kega. We shall update this section as soon as we get the details.
Education of Commissioner Wanderi
Wanderi holds a Master of Science in Management (MSc. Mgmt.); from Arthur D. Little Management Institute in Boston, USA and a Bachelor of Education; from the University of Nairobi.
Additionally, he holds a Transformative Leadership and Change Management and Corporate Governance Course from Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance.

The career journey of Francis M. Wanderi
Wanderi has over 30 years of experience in senior-level management in public and private organizations. He served as a chairperson at EPZ and a director at Roots Credit Limited.
Wanderi Joined IEBC on September 1, 2021, as a commissioner. At IEBC he chairs the Finance and Supply Chain committee.
Francis Wanderi affidavit
Wanderi and the aforementioned commission disowned 2022 presidential results. The matter ended at the Supreme Court of Kenya. And as such Wanderi swore an affidavit in court stating that Chairperson Wafula Chebukati announced “his own presidential results” on August 15, 2022.
In the affidavit, he proceeded to state that Chebukati denied the four commissioners a chance to verify and tally presidential votes and went ahead to announce the winner without following due process. Additionally, he alleged that Wafula read them results that they did not understand how they were arrived at.
In the contested election results, Dr. William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua were declared as president-elect and deputy president-elect respectively.
