Treating eczema is time consuming and mentally torturing to the parents. In this article, we shall explain to you how to treat eczema at home.

Eczema in a child is usually accompanied by food allergies mostly animal proteins, respiratory allergies, eye itchiness and asthma. The first three are called hay fever. There is no definite cure for eczema, however, most of the time the symptoms improve with age.

Atopic dermatitis can be persistent. You may need to try various treatments over months or years to control it. And even if treatment is successful, symptoms may return (flare). There are so many recommended things that you can do to alleviate the symptoms and prevent flare-ups.

Most of the time they are just simple and can be easily ignored but they have been proven to be effective. Dietary triggers such as milk and eggs should not be avoided as this can lead to a malnourished child. Eczema being an inflammatory condition can be treated mostly by treating our gut.

1. Farting

Farting daily can help with gut treatment and avoiding inflammation. Three meals a day are unnecessary for a child. It has been proven that children who fasted cleared their gut inflammation in no time leading to a healed child suffering from eczema.

The introduction of food all the time leads to a congested gut which cannot clear food from previous sessions thus leading to inflammation. Food twice or once can make a do.

2. Apply coconut oil on the skin

The use of coconut oil on the skin of the child and avoiding lotions and soaps can help treat eczema. Most soaps are harmful to the epidermis of the skin which is the first line of defense, when this layer is destroyed it leads to redness, itchiness and infection of the skin.

3. Sunbath to treat eczema

Basking in the sun is therapeutic for children suffering from eczema. Sun therapy is a relief to eczema symptoms. In the African community in the past, children used to bask in the sun all day either playing or leaving there as the parents were busy with daily chores and conditions like eczema were unheard of during that time. Therefore the sun is therapeutic and children should be left to play in the sun.

4. Avoiding sugars

Avoiding sugar, wheat, milk and honey in children can help treat eczema in children. Processed sugar does more harm to the body than good.

5. Avoid gluten to reduce flares

Wheat which has gluten is poisonous to the human body thus triggering inflammatory responses in the body. Milk is a natural allergen and triggers an allergic response to it whenever consumed by children suffering from eczema.

Processed cereals such as Weetabix and oats do not have any nutritional value to a child suffering from eczema. It is rather a trigger and can lead to more flares.

However, it is recommended to eat meat, eggs, and sauerkraut and bask in the sun daily. This will help with the immune system of the child and therefore clear inflammation in the gut that leads to eczema.
