Kidero attended Agoro Sare High School for his O level. He then moved to Mangu High School for his A level. After his A level he joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a Degree in Pharmacy and graduated in 1983. He then moved to the United States International University in 1990 to pursue master’s in business administration.

Kidero worked as the CEO of the Mumias sugar company for a span of 8years and resigned in 2012 to join politics. During the 2013 general elections Kidero vied for the position of the Nairobi County gubertorial seat and was elected. However, due to the petition in court by Ferdinand Waititu, Kidero was overthrown on his position. This was due to the cited election malpractice a decision which was reversed by the Supreme Court. His deputy was Jonathan Mwangangi Mueke.

For the second time in 2017 general elections Kidero vied again for the gubernatorial seat but lost
the election to Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Corruption allegations against Kidero

In 2018, Kidero was arrested over allegations of abuse of office, bribery and money laundering. The investigations were carried out by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission which was both in when he was the CEO of Mumias Sugar Company and when he was serving as the governor Nairobi County government.
