Dianne started her political career while still at the University of Stanford where she vied for the position of school Vice President of the student body. She worked at the attorney’s office of California district. Dianne was then appointed in the California institution of women as a member of Board of Trust which was in charge of regulating the prison terms and conditions for female convict. She later resigned and took a break in politics and in 1969 was elected to join the Board of Supervisors and became the president if the board with majority sites a position she served for two-year term for several terms.
In November i978 when she was about to retire from politics when Mayor George Moscone was killed. However, she became the acting mayor, and this was when her husband died. After serving as an acting Mayor she vied for the position and was elected in 1979. She served for two terms leaving the office in 1988.

In 1992 she was elected the senator of California and was reflected in 2012 with 62.5% of the votes. In the history of USA she is the only woman to have taken part in the inauguration of the lredideb. Currently, she is said to be the oldest sitting in the U.S senate after winning the 2018 a term ending in 2025. Despite her old age and the oldest serving senator Feinstein declared that she will again vie for 2024 elections.
In the senate she led a team of senators to pass the legislation to increament of fuel. She is the champion in the preservation of the California forest, Mijave Desert and Lake Tahoe. Dianne also took part in making the nationwide Amber Alert Network. Fought to pass the bill that will help California deal with drought.
In 2017 she became the first woman and top democrat in the senate legislature. She also served in the Senate select committee on incidence for 6 years from 2009. Feinstein is the co-chairperson if the Senate Caucus on international Narcotic control and a member of anti-meth Caucus and chairperson of the senate Cancer coalition.
