After quitting journalism in 2013, Itumbi decided to join the Statehouse as member of Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU). However, he was forced to leave in 2018.
He then got into media space where he dug himself into formidable mobilization of Kenya citizens in order to favor William Ruto Presidential candidacy in the 2022 general elections. Due to his hardwork towards assisting president Ruto in his campaigns he was among the newly appointed Chief administrative Secretaries early 2023 by President William Ruto.
Itumbi also runs a Media Company known as Supreme Media. He also does pig farming.
