Parker’s political career began when he was still a youth in high school when she entered for the membership of the Philadelphia City Council membership named Marian Tasco. After she had graduated, she worked in a high school as an English teacher. In 1995 she got a chance to join the Tesco city hall Office. This is where her political career was nurtured.

When Tasco retired from the council office in 2015 she went ahead to succeed her and won the election and while in the office she founded a number of initiatives like a program named Philly First Home. While still in office in 2020 she was ranked the majority leader for Democrats, in February 2021 she was elected the Board chair for the Delaware River port Authority.
