Cecily Mbarire Biography
Cecily Mbarire is first female and second Governor of Embu County. She took over from the first governor, Martin Wambora.
Previously was a nominated MP in the Jubilee party in 2017-2022. She has served as an MP for Runyejes Constituency.
Other female governors elected at 2022 elections are, Susan Kihika of Nakuru County, Kawira Mwangaza of Meru County, Anne Waiguru of Kirinyaga County, Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay County, Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos County, and Fatuma Achani of Kwale County.

Mbarire studied at Sacred Heart Kyeni Girls High School in Embu for her Secondary Education. However, she took her primary education at St. Peters Upper Primary School.

Mbarire was elected Governor of Embu County during August 9, 2022, general elections on a UDA ticket. However, she had been elected the MP for Runyejes from the 2007 election to 2017of TNA party ticket.
She got a chance to serve as Chairperson for Kenya Women Parliamentary Association in 2013 and also acted as a secretary in the same group from 2002.
