Boya Molu is a commissioner at Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He was sworn into office on January 19, 2017. During the 2022 presidential announcement, the commission was split into two (3 commissioners against 4 commissioners). Mr. Boya Molu and Prof. Abdi Yakub Guliye opted to remain alleged to the commission chairperson, Wafula Chebukati.
The splitting of the commission and other issues formed the basis of disputing the 2022 presidential election at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
In defending the action of the Chairperson, Mr. Molu swore an affidavit to the Supreme Court against the petitioners, Raila Amolo Odinga and Martha Karua. Early life and age of Boya Molu
Molu is a Kenyan by birth. However, details about his childhood and age are not in the public limelight.
Boya Molu’s education background
Molu holds a Master’s in Business Administration (HR Management Option) from Periyar University, India and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Karnatak University, India.
He also has a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management from a Kenyan institution, Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). However, his early education journey is not known.
Boya Molu career Journey
Molu has over 15 years of experience in public service as a human resource practitioner. Currently, he is a commissioner at IEBC. At IEBC he is in charge of the Human Resource, Administration and Training Committee.
He joined IEBC on January 19, 2017. This was after following a very rigorous process of vetting and interviewing. Apparently, constitutionally this is his second and last term to serve as commissioner at IEBC. This means that Boya Molu will not be a commissioner during the 2027 general elections.
Prior to joining IEBC he served at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the Judiciary in the Human Resource and Administration Directorate.
Additionally, he is a council member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM) Kenya.
