Tinubu was born on 29th March 1952, in Lagos, Nigeria, to a family of modest means. He is 72 years old.

Bola Tinubu education background

Tinubu attended Children’s Home School in Ibadan and St. John’s Basic School in Aroloya, Lagos. He then did his secondary school education at the prestigious Government College, Ibadan. After completing his secondary education, Tinubu proceeded to the United States of America, where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Chicago State University in 1979. He also obtained a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the same university in 1983.

Bola Tinubu’s first wife is Oluremi Tinubu, also known as Senator Oluremi Tinubu. She is a trained nurse, educator, and politician. They got married in 1987, and they are blessed with children.

Bola Tinubu Political Career

Tinubu began his political career in the early 1990s, serving as a Senator for the Lagos West
constituency in the Nigerian Senate. He was elected Governor of Lagos State in 1999 and
served for two terms until 2007.

2023 presidential campaign

On 10th January 2022, Tinubu made his formal announcement of running for president. Additionally, on 8th June 2022, Tinubu won the party convention vote of the ruling APC, defeating Vice President  Yemi Osinbajo  and Rotimi Amaechi.

On 1 March 2023, INEC declared Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election. He was declared president-elect after a defeat to his opponents. His runner-up Atiku Abubakar of the
opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Labour Party’s Peter Obi coming in the third
place.

Illegal operation of foreign accounts

In April 2007, after the general elections, but before the governor-elect Babatunde Fashola had taken office, the Federal Government brought Tinubu before the Code of Conduct Bureau for trial over the alleged illegal operation of 16 separate foreign Accounts. Appropriation of Lagos funds in buying shares in Econet.

In January 2009, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission cleared Tinubu and governors James Ibori of Delta State and Obong Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom State of charges of conspiracy, money laundering, abuse of office and official corruption in relation to a sale of  Vmobile  network shares in 2004.
