Biography
On January 21, 2023 Father Henry Juma Odonya was installed as the new bishop of Catholic Diocese of Kitale. Fr. Odonya will be taking the diocese from Bishop Maurice Crowley who resigned late last year.
The event was attended by senior government officials. Among those who attended are President Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Governor George Natembea.

Early life and age of Father Henry Juma Odonya
Rev Odonya was born in Nairobi, Kenya on 10th December 1976. However, he was raised in Eldoret where his parents worked for Kenya Railways. Going by his date of birth Fr. Odonya is 46 (as of 2022).
His parents are Late Mr. George Odonya and Mrs. Odonya.
Education Journey of Fr. Henry Juma Odonya
Fr. Odonya started schooling at Central Primary School at the heart of Eldoret. Later he joined Bishop Delany Memorial Secondary School, still in Eldoret.
In 1997, he joined St Mary’s Major Seminary in Molo for his spiritual formation. The next year he joined St Augustine Seminary, Mabanga, for his philosophical studies up to 1999.
From 2000 to 2004, the bishop-elect attended St Thomas Aquinas Seminary for his theological studies.

Career Journey of Fr. Henry Juma Odonya
He was ordained in 2005 and posted at Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. He started serving as an assistant priest of St Patrick’s Kapcherop (2006-2007) and assistant priest of St Teresa of Avilla Ndalat Parish (2008-2009).
Between 2009-2011 Fr. Odonya returned as parish priest at St Patrick’s Kapcherop.
On November 4, 2022, Pope Francis appointed Fr Henry Juma Odonya, priest of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret as the new bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale.
