Andrew Mwandime is the current Governor of Taita Taveta County having been elected in the August 9, 2022, general elections. He is also a former member of parliament for the Mwatate constituency from 2013 and was also a member of the pension committee from 2013.

Education Background of Andrew Mwandine Katuu
From 1972 to 1980 attended his primary school education at Chiwa primary school and sat for his CPE examination. In 1979 to 1980 he went to Free Town primary school.
From 1944 to 1985 he attended Kenyatta school for his A level and later from 1987 to 1990 he to Kenyatta University for a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
In 2001, the governor joined Mombasa Polytechnic for a diploma in Marketing.

From 1990 to 1994 he worked as a Teacher and a deputy head teacher under the Teachers’ service
Commission (TSC).
Additionally, from 1995 to 1996 he worked as a graduate trainee at Kenya Commercial Bank. Thereafter, he worked at the Kenya Commercial Bank as the Head card business in Mombasa.
In 2010 he was the head of KCB card subsidiaries and later moved to a private business named Gemstones miners.
As a member of ODM, he became a member of parliament for the Mwatate constituency having been elected in the 2013 general elections the same year he was a member of the pension committee.
At the 11th parliament, he was also a member of the public accounts committee from 2013 to 2017. In the 12th parliament, he became a member of the parliamentary powers and privileges committee in 2017.
In October 2015 he came up with a solution to the long rivalry between the investors and the Mwatate residents where he said that a survey will be conducted to establish the boundaries of the Tatita Sisal estate and the neighboring Singila Majengo community.
