Biography

Ken Osinde was the chief of staff at the office of the deputy president (now president Ruto). He was described as an easygoing and pragmatic diplomat who kept a low media profile but ensured that the
Harambee Annex house runs efficiently.

He was also a key ally of deputy president by then William Ruto by then.

Early Life and Age of The late Ken Nyauncho Osinde

Osinde was born on August 18, 1962, in Kenya. His parents were the late Johnsilas Osinde and
Teresa Nyagechanga.

Education

Ken attended Nairobi University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in linguistics before pursuing Masters of Business Administration (MBA).

During his time as an undergraduate, he loved the arts and was also an actor. He even got a role in
Kenyas premier soap opera Tushauriane. He acted alongside Paul Onsongo, Denis Kashero and the late Tony Msalame.

The career journey of Ken

He was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi before joining the National Bank of Kenya. He rose through the ranks and became the head of strategic planning.

At the university, he taught Linguistic and African languages and pioneered research and published in Sheng and youth language.

He then worked as the chief Executive officer Of NBK and Director of the college of Insurance.

In 2010 he became Kenya’s Germany ambassador. He took part in the inauguration of the first direct flight from Mombasa to Berlin. He was also accredited to Bulgaria.

Corruption Allegations

The ambassador was among the summoned by the Director of Criminal Investigation after it was alleged that an Italian contracted to do two dams at Elgeyo Marakwet, wired Sh47 million to an insurance company linked to him Sanlam General Insurance. The dams were never built and the firm went bankrupt.

Ken Osinde Wife and children

He was married to Judith Nyauncho and had five children namely; Isabel, Yvonne, Stephanie,
Emmanuel and Bradley.

Ken Osinde’s cause of death

The ambassador died on December 10th, 2021 while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital. According to the family, Ken was suffering from liver illness.

Ken Osinde burial

Osinde’s family decided to bury him at Ngata in Nakuru instead of his ancestral home in Nyamira County.  His burial took place 22nd of December, 2021. May he rest in peace.
