
Biography
Alice Muthoni Wahome is a Kenyan politician and current cabinet secretary for water, Sanitation, and irrigation appointee in President William Ruto’s administration. Her appointment took place on September 27, 2022.
Wahome’s appointment is awaiting vetting and approval by the parliament. However, before she assumes office she is still the Kandara Member of parliament since she was again re-elected in the August 2022 general elections.
Alice is also a lawyer and an advocate of the High Court.

Early Life and age of Alice Muthoni Wahome
Wahome was born on April 28, 1959, and brought up in Kandara Constituency, Muranga County. Although little information about her parents and siblings is not known, she was born in a polygamous family.

Alice Wahome Education background
Alice wahome attended Karumu primary school then Bishop Gatimu Ngandu girls high school. She also attended Siakago High School. She later joined the University of Nairobi where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law.

Alice Wahome’s Husband and Children
Alice Wahome is married to Godfrey Wahome Ngayu and they have four children, three daughters and one son. Her firstborn is in media, the second born a doctor and the third one is practicing law and the boy is in university studying law.
The husband is a gynecologist who runs woman’s family health clinic at ICEA building in the city centre.

Alice Wahome’s career journey
Between 1999 and 2001 she was deeply involved in the women’s movement and at the same time joined
the Fida council as the vice chairperson. She served as a law society member for two years.
Wahome joined politics in 1997 as a member of the Kenya women’s Caucus. In 2002 and 2007 she ran for Kandara for the first time but won the seat in 2013.
Alice Wahome is a famous and professional politician and lawyer, in the March 2013 general election she was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Kandara constituency. She is also a strong advocate for public health programs.
She is frequently referred to be a human right advocate, a strong politician, excellent and dedicated leader. Her fearlessness has put her at the forefront of encouraging women in leadership.
Alice ran again for the seat in 2022 and was re-elected and is now appointed cabinet secretary for water and sanitation awaiting parliament vetting.

Alice Wahome’s Corruption Allegations
The second term MP found herself accused of insulting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Kandara Returning officer, she claimed that it was after she was called by agents who told her that the returning officer had blocked them from signing the crucial form 34A.
Later the justice of the high court ruled that there was no evidence that she had committed the electoral offense of harassing an election official.
