Alex Chamwada is a Kenyan professional journalist who have worked in different Kenyan media houses including Royal Media Services. He currently hosts the common show on KTN named Daring Abroad.

Chamwada was born on 16th August 1971 in Sabatia Constituency Vihga County, he is 52 years old. Chamwada celebrates his birthday on 16th August every year.

His father was Herman Ayiego who was a pastor and his mother’s name is unknown but she did small farming in the village. Chamwada has 11 other siblings.

Chamwada is married to Caroline Iroka Chamwada and they are blessed with three children namely Leon, Kessey and Chelsea.

Chamwada attended St Peter’s Mumias High School. After his secondary education he joined Moi University where he graduated with BSC in Information Science. He also did a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi. He then went to Liverpool University to do his Master in Politics and Mass Media.

Chamwada’s career began in 1994 when he started a volunteer job with a private foundation of Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and also Trans World Radio for four years. He spent another one year to have his entry- level journalism experience. He then joined the Royal Media Services which the biggest media house in Kenya in 1999 where he was a reporter in TV and Radio. A year later he had an opportunity to do his month-long internship in the Voice of America in the United States.

He then joined KTN in 2001 as a senior reporter and spent four years in the position. He then took the time of a political editor. In 2008 he made a comeback to Royal Media Services where he worked as Political Associate Editor.

He left in 2008 for journalism practice on a greener pasture. He then came up with and founded a communication consultancy firm that gave him and his team an opportunity to produce and curate the contents they prefer and also to do growth avenue exploration it was named Chams Media Limited.

In his firm he was able to come up with Daring Abroad and Chamwada Report shows which are very common in the KTN TV for more than five years before 2020 when the partnership was terminated.

In 2010 President Mwai Kibaki Awarded Chamwada with the Order of the Grand Wirrior Award for his good work in journalism.
