Aden Bare Duale is a Kenyan politician hailing from Garissa County. He was born on June 15, 1969. His parents are Howar Kosar, a small-scale businesswoman while his father was a pastoralist in Balambala.
He is the former National Member of Parliament for Garissa Township Constituency.

Hon Aden Duale Education Journey
Duale started schooling at Boys town primary school in Garissa for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE), in 1975. In 1982 he joined Garissa High school and Moi Forces Academy, Nakuru in 1986 for his secondary education.
He graduated from Moi University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and later took his Master’s at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Duale is also a holder of several professional certificates namely: conflict management, livestock marketing, and value chain, project management, livestock Cross-Border trade, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding, Animal disease, and traceability among others.
Career history of Aden Duale
His Bachelor’s Degree got him a job at Sankuri Secondary school in 1992 kick-starting his teaching career. Aden later quitted the job after one year of working and moved to the provincial commissioner’s office in Garissa as a clerical officer.
He worked there for six months but left as the pay was low.
Duale then joined the family business stating that it’s where money was.
He later moved to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where he served as Director from 1999-2003.
He is also a founder member of the Livestock Marketing Society of Kenya.
Aden Duale’s Political Career
His political career started in 2007 when he was elected to parliament for Dujis Constituency under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
He was appointed Assistant Minister for Livestock in 2008. He ditched ODM to join Ruto’s United Republican Party (URP), in 2011 leaving his seat as the ODM National Vice Chairman in Political Affairs.
In 2013 he was re-elected under URP and in 2017 under the jubilee party.
He also served as national assembly the first majority leader in the 11th parliament from 2013-2017 and the 12th parliament from 2017-2020.
In 2020, he was ousted as national assembly majority leader for disloyalty to the then president Uhuru Kenyatta.
On September 27, 2022, he was nominated by President William Ruto, as Cabinet Secretary for defense.

Duale is married to Farida, the daughter of the former Chief of General staff Mohamud Mohamed. He paid a dowry of five cows for his wife. The couple has five sons his eldest being Abdul Razak Aden.
Abdul Razak Aden schooled at Mang’u high school and scored an A- (minus) of 77 points in 2015 K.C.S.E.

The former MP is the owner of several businesses including a large cattle ranch at the coast, and Medina Chemicals which supplies veterinary products in North Eastern, Djibouti, and South Sudan.
